Alberto Tebaldi
HANDBOOK OF CREATIVE JAZZ GUITAR
Theories of vision John Coltrane's harmonic
Edition NEW ARGOS
A treatise of Geometry, Numerology, or better yet the philosophy of music. All
and the opposite of everything one might say. But I think there is anything that can affect the phenomenon of music and especially that which has affected the musical experience of John Coltrane. What
Tebaldi of the manual is a pocket-sized, well made and arranged in graphics, strictly divided under a system of argumentation. A pamphlet from the original content based on years of research of teacher-Roman musician.
In his theorizing, Tebaldi tends to logically connect the different disciplinary spheres of man, through the science of symbols, such as painting (with color theory), geometry and mathematics (with the forms of visual expression and numbers), with the auditory and music specifically. As they follow each other interesting points of view on the concept of music that moved the art of one of the greatest musicians of our century, tries to make Tebaldi the script is usable and understandable to many, even where it would seem difficult understanding. And so every discord is dissolved, or rather resolved in consonance rational doubt is immediately clarified by the following theory. Nothing is left to chance. It would be madness if you had knowledge of the facts!
a different way, so original, as evidence in the field apparently simple, where all or a great deal has been said on several levels and where there is a risk of trivializing any topic helpful to enhancing everyone's music.
Our author with courage, and he looks so much trouble to be one of the most important and controversial history of jazz: the legendary saxophonist John Coltrane. Dig deep in those who were his theories and his spiritual afflictions, trying to come to awareness and consciousness of self. It speaks of spiritual awakening, to access key universal harmony, the Enneagram, the Golden Spiral, a five-fold symmetry of Giant Steps ... and much more. Arguments certainly not simple!
Giant Steps That's right, a piece of Coltrane that incorporates the thinking of the same author, a philosophical and religious thought (if you want) at the same time, always real test for the challenges ahead jazz. It would be simplistic, however, be considered mere technical challenge of track. It is much more than just a melodic and harmonic sequence. There is already behind the troubled quell'ascesi religiosity and mysticism that characterize its final location and mode where you will find the strength to break free from traditional structural constraints. Tebaldi refers to these philosophical mood: literally breaks up the track and try to analyze it cell by cell, through analysis of harmonic and melodic. Indicates carefully what he said could be different ways to build an improvisation on Giant Steps. It succeeds, again making use of references to the symbolism used from the very first pages.
short, a coherent work, sacred fruit of research that requires much concentration and a good musical level acquired. A wise and full of complete curiosity, never banal. The continuing use of images and colors, helps a lot in reading and makes explicit what is its high content.
